New Things

sound + substance is getting a face lift! Trying to muster up some creativity – will have some new stuff here in the coming days.

I have been making things, recording things, purchasing things, and will hopefully be writing some things in the near future!

Lift Worship Collective

UPDATE: Looks like registration is full. There is a wait-list to get on at the website.

If you haven’t heard of Passion City Church… Its an awesome gathering headed up by Louie Giglio of Passion Conferences. I haven’t been to the Church nights, but from what I’ve been hearing, God has been breathing into that new work and is blessing those who have attended. Of course, worship is led by Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, and others of the Passion crew!

Anyway, I want to share an awesome opportunity for you and your worship team. LIFT – a worship collective for songwriters and musicians. From the LIFT website:

The first of these gatherings will take in place in Atlanta, GA on February 18/19, 2011. The gathering will include two nights and one full day of teaching, inspiration and challenge for worship leaders. Hosted by Louie Giglio and Chris Tomlin, contributors will also include Matt Redman + Nathan and Christy Nockels. As a highlight, Matt Redman’s new album will be recorded LIVE during these days.

I can’t stress this enough – this is awesome! Great opportunity to grab your team and take them to specialized teaching and worship that will recharge their spirit in an epic way or possibly introduce them to something they have never experienced! You also can’t beat such a great gathering for such a small price and flexible schedule.

This experience will be a priceless gift to your team musically and spiritually. You must go and bring your team! I registered a couple days ago. You should too. Click here to register!

Stream Audio From One Mac to Another!

Stream Audio From One Mac to Another!

I usually find random tech blog posts when I want to fix something I am perfectly capable of doing, but I’m just lazy and I want a new shortcut  – at least thats how it happens to me. Thats definitely not the story here. Lazy yes. Capable… well.

I was sitting in the living room late last night wanting to play around in logic without sitting in the studio (lazy). ARD (Apple Remote Desktop)! That works for remote monitoring and I could control and edit Logic with that, but then it hit me… I won’t be able to hear a thing. Crud. Anyway, I knew there must be a mac-magical way of doing this without buying anymore apple accessories, so I googled around and found the Mac Geekery blog post “Playing Live Audio on Another Mac”. Great thorough explanation of the process.

Last night I was able to play around on my iMac from my Macbook with no problem. Great stuff. Check it out!

Twain on Music

Ah, that shows you the power of music, that magician of magician, who lifts his wand and says his mysterious word and all things real pass away and the phantoms of your mind walk before you clothed in flesh.

Logic Learning – Day 3

Day 3 of Logic Learning. This is just a song they had me mix and create some alternate sections. The acapella intro for instance. Obviously, I don’t have a gospel/rnb choir in my closet, nor do I sing that well or… well like that at all. No real musicianship involved, just computer magic! The song grew on me over the last hour+ though.

I need to update this post with the mp3 from tumblr…

Logic Learning – Day 2

Day 2 of Logic Learning… Most of the curriculum today did not really create any original content, so I figured I would spend an hour or 2 coming up with something. What I did… My take on “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”. Spliced a couple Apple Loops into the drum loop and that synth rhythm thing. Then added some extra kick and snare parts, bass, a tambourine part, the acoustic and vocals. Also added a high vocal part that i attempted layering some textured reverb on… frustrated me, so i left what you hear now. All in all, after I bounced it to itunes, it was probably one of the better logic products I’ve turned out so far. Enjoy!
